‘Make it look like a fire’: Man, 47, accused of arson at Riviera Beach motorcycle club

A 47-year-old Lake Park man is facing an arson charge after investigators in Riviera Beach say he tried to set fire to a rival motorcycle club’s clubhouse.
The man is accused of second-degree arson, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and criminal mischief of property over $1,000. Riviera Beach police investigators say he deliberately set fire to the Enforcers Motorcycle Club building on the 1500 block of Avenue E, west of Broadway.
According to a police statement, the fire happened at about 6 a.m. Sept. 11. Riviera Beach Fire Rescue crews quickly extinguished it and determined it had been started intentionally.
Detectives from the Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations and the Riviera Beach Police Department’s Strategic Investigations Division responded to the scene.
The man suspected of starting the fire was arrested by Palm Beach Gardens police the following day on unrelated drug charges.
Riviera Beach detectives went to the Palm Beach County Jail to interview him about the arson incident and the man confessed, a police department spokesperson said. According to his arrest report, he told investigators the Enforcers and another motorcycle club are in a feud due to losing members to each other.
The man said someone instructed him to destroy the Enforcers clubhouse and “make it look like a fire.” He declined to identify the person who gave him the order, police said.
