IOMGIA Awards

The Board has established achievement awards to recognize excellence in the investigation, prosecution, or analysis of outlaw motorcycle gangs. In addition, award categories have been created to recognize exceptional contributions in the areas of training, education, media, and legislation.

Nominations may come from members and non-members. Awards are voted on by the Board and presented at the annual IOMGIA training conference.

Please note: multiple awards can go to the same person or people in the same year, and there is no limit per category. Because the awards are merit-based, not every category is guaranteed a winner each year.

Awards packets are submitted by a current Board member. Nominations that do not come from a Board member will first be reviewed by a Board member for compliance before being submitted.

Specific criteria for each award will be provided electronically, or at the midterm meeting along with the nomination form.

Full information for each nominee — names, supervisor, department head, and addresses — must be included, or the nomination will not be voted on. All nomination information is transmitted electronically to Board members for balloting.

Background information must be a maximum of 3 typed, single-spaced pages, in a minimum 12 point font, in Word or WordPerfect format (not PDF).

For investigative category nominations, the case must have been adjudicated in court. A case that is currently being appealed may still be nominated.

The nomination deadline is July 1 each year for that year’s awards ceremony.

In extenuating circumstances — such as a case still in trial, or a non-board nomination needing format revision — a separate ballot process may be allowed. The nature of the circumstance must be included with the preliminary nomination.

Submit nominations using the following required fields, in order:

1. Nominee’s biographic information
2. Award category
3. Nomination details (additional nominations from the same case repeat the nominee’s name and title)
4. Agency
5. Mailing address
6. Supervisor’s name, title, agency, and mailing address
7. Department head’s name, title, agency, and mailing address

A person can be nominated for more than one award.
