Rival Gang Members Charged in Memorial Day Shooting
The Odessa Police Department has continuously followed up on the shooting that occurred on Memorial Day and have made an arrest in connection.

This incident involves two rival biker gangs. During this incident, 36-year-old Victor Gomez exited his vehicle in the 3000 blk of Andrews Highway. He approached 41-year-old Gilbert Corrales in the middle of the roadway. There is evidence to believe that Gomez used a baseball bat to strike Corrales while Corrales was on his motorcycle.
After striking Corrales, Gomez returned to his vehicle and abandoned the unlawful assault. Corrales followed Gomez to the passenger side. He then fired a single round into the truck, striking Gomez in the torso. Both parties fled the scene.
Members of both gangs have been interviewed about the incident and have provided no information and false information about the incident.
This case involves two separate aggravated assaults within the same incident. Therefore, BOTH subjects are being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon “F2.” Gomez is still in the ICU at Medical Center Hospital in stable, but critical condition.
Warrants have been obtained and will be served upon his imminent release. Corrales was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on the Aggravated Assault charge, Possession of Body Armor by a Felon “F3,” and Marijuana charges.
