Man wanted on charges related to deadly Portland fight turns himself in

PORTLAND, Maine — A man from New Hampshire accused of being part of a deadly fight between rival motorcycle gangs in Portland last July turned himself into police.

Kristofer Haken, 46, of Londonderry, New Hampshire turned himself in the day after the U.S. Marshals Service shared there was a federal arrest warrant out for him related to missing court dates, according to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Ryan Guay.

Haken is facing elevated aggravated assault charges stemming from the fight that happened at Morrill’s Corner on Forest Ave., according to Guay. He had been wanted by Portland police for more than five months.

Haken is an alleged member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, according to Portland police. It is not clear exactly what role Haken had in the fight on July 30.

Five other people have been arrested and charged with the fight.

Four of them, 33-year-old Caleb Pelkey of Portland, 30-year-old James Moody of Bowdoin, 45-year-old Jason Keenan of Bath, and 48-year-old Nathan Walsh of Lewiston, are facing elevated aggravated assault charges. They will be tried together.

In April, Aaron Karp, 47, of Naples, was sentenced for shooting and killing 54-year-old Susan McHugh of Gray. Karp was sentenced to 15 years in prison with all but 5 years suspended and 4 years probation. Karp was previously charged with one count of intentional knowing murder. He agreed to a plea deal to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Kaleb Cindre, 22, of Windham, has also been charged in connection with the fight. He failed to appear in court and currently has no legal representation, according to the judge overseeing the case.
