Massive seizures as Edmonton police bust One Order Motorcycle Club
The raids, spanning Alberta and B.C., led to dozens of arrests — including a full-patched Hells Angels member — and disrupted a major organized crime network

In a sweep of arrests, the Edmonton Police Service, RCMP, ALERT and Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) B.C. have jointly put a massive crimp in expansion plans for a known Eastern Canadian criminal enterprise of “one-percenters” — the fraction of motorcycle culture committed to operating outside the law.
In a 45-minute raid on Sept. 23, in a culmination of 11 months of investigation, some 200 officers from across multiple law enforcement agencies — including more than 100 from Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement Section (EDGE) and the Edmonton Police Service — descended on One Order Motorcycle Club hot spots with search warrants on 40 sites including a non-descript clubhouse in west Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Alberta Beach, and in B.C. communities, including Kelowna.
The resulting haul announced Tuesday at a press conference had the ring of a criminal holiday carol, a version of 12 Days of Christmas.
Among the seized items were $118,000 cash, 82,000 pills, 50,000 contraband cigarettes, more than 9,000 contraband cigars and 6,000 rounds of ammunition.
Twenty guns were seized, a number of them loaded, many with serial numbers filed off, and 19 individuals arrested, with seven being charged so far.
The investigation included two body armour vests, two stolen trucks and a utility trailer, a steroid pill press lab, one identified firearm supplier — and one “full patch” member of the Hells Angels.
Also found was a large printed banner signed with the good wishes of members from places like London, Ont., and Peel, Ont., among the national hot spots where the gang is known to flourish.
“While the investigation is ongoing, this operation represents a major step in disrupting organized crime and keeping the public safe,” said Staff Sgt. Marco Antonio of EPS organized crime branch, highlighting the importance of multi-agency collaboration.
Among the seized items, member vests emblazoned with insignia (One Order’s bandana-wearing skull with a bony skeletal finger raised in a hush warning, and the Hells Angels flaming skull), as well as proper embroidered badges identifying the president and other leaders.
Antonio said the gang is well-established in Eastern Canada.
“They were starting to move here . They were in the process of
starting to set up,” he said.
Outlaw motorcycle gangs already have something of a foothold in Edmonton.
There are seven confirmed “one-percent” club chapters, including three Hells Angels chapters and six associated support clubs currently within Edmonton, according to the EPS.
Among the criminal activities uncovered in this investigation are firearms trafficking, conspiracy to traffic firearms, commit extortion, robbery, assaults, and organized crime involvement by the One Order MC and its members.
Although there is more work to be done on this file, with more charges to be laid and investigative leads to examine, this is a major accomplishment in disrupting organized crime,” Antonio said.
“This investigation is a shining example of the tenacity of the EDGE Section, and what can be accomplished when multiple agencies work together.”
Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
“For more than a year our EDGE unit members work tirelessly to help stop organized crime from setting up in our city and bring those responsible to justice. That means long days, unpredictable hours, lots of travel and co-ordinating with law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions,” said Deputy Chief Nicole Chapdelaine.
“Our partnerships, including our partners with the RCMP, help make it possible for us to stand here today and to talk about our actions that have led to our communities being safer,” Chapdelaine said, adding her thanks to the EDGE leadership and members and the partners.
“(I want to) let them all know how proud we are about how they dismantled this criminal organization, sending a message that (One Order) is not welcome here in our city, and their attempts to endanger our city will not be tolerated,” she said.
Seven men charged
Andrew Hylton, 58 of Edmonton, is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, four counts of participation in activities of a criminal organization, commission of an offence for criminal organization, recruitment of members by a criminal organization, two counts of firearms trafficking, possession of a firearm for trafficking, and two counts of instructing commission of firearms
Brady Wilhelm, 35 of Sherwood Park, is charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm for trafficking, conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, and firearms trafficking.
Robert Walsh, 47 of Ardrossan, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm for trafficking, two counts of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, participation in activities of a criminal organization, three counts of commission of an offence for criminal organization, and three counts of firearms trafficking.
Shiane Runcie, 36 of Edmonton, is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, participation in activities of a criminal organization, three counts of commission of an offence for criminal organization, and firearms trafficking.
Kevin Moffatt, 34 of Edmonton, is charged with conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, participation in activities of a criminal organization, commission of an offence for criminal organization, and firearms trafficking.
Marc Kennedy, 28 of Edmonton, is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, three counts of commission of an offence for criminal organization, and firearms trafficking.
Richael Hanson, 45 of Alberta Beach, is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking, two counts of commission of an offence for criminal organization, and participation in activities of a criminal organization.
All of those arrested are out on conditions.
