New Smyrna Beach shooting under investigation, points to rival motorcycle gangs

New Smyrna Beach Police are investigating a shooting Saturday afternoon, possibly between two rival motorcycle gangs, the department wrote in a Facebook post at around 1:15 p.m.
Officers are on scene at the RaceTrac at 3000 State Road 44, which is completely blocked off with crime scene tape. Motorcycles are inside the taped-off area.
Any injuries appear to be non-life-threatening “at this time,” according to the post, and police are asking people to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
Preliminary information shows the shooting was between two rival biker gangs. It is unknown whether the incident is related to Bike Week, which started in Daytona Beach Feb. 28 and ends Sunday, March 9.
