Three men have been indicted in an April bar fight Douglasville police say involved alleged members of a Georgia motorcycle gang.
Jorge Luis Delgado Perez, 38, Jake Todd Follis, 52, of Temple and Jeffrey Keith Freeman, 43, of Douglasville are charged with aggravated assault, affray, disorderly conduct and two counts of participating in criminal gang activity.
The three men are among a group of Vagos Motorcycle Club members accused of assaulting a man at Topps Bar and Grill on Douglas Boulevard on April 4, according to arrest warrants.
During the investigation, police confiscated three Harley-Davidson motorcycles, numerous assault rifles, gang clothing and motorcycle accessories, but did not say where the items were seized.
Douglasville police have been investigating gangs for some time, Douglasville Police Chief Gary Sparks said, noting that some “outlaw” motorcycle clubs have instigated violence in other states with little or no provocation, sometimes resulting in harm to innocent people.
“It is our job to protect the citizens of the City of Douglasville, and we will come after you, whether you’re an outlaw motorcycle club or a street gang,” he said. “What we see happening is that these groups may come through Douglasville to have drinks and, if they see other motorcycle clubs wearing their colors, it can and often does spark a violent encounter.”
Douglasville police plan to hold town hall meetings to inform the public how to identify and recognize signs of similar motorcycle clubs.
Members of the Vagos Motorcycle Club, also known as Vagos MC, call themselves the “Green Nation” because they typically wear green colors, according to Sparks. He said there are other signs and symbols that differentiate biker gangs from regular motorcycle clubs.
