Attack on Lexington motorcyle club cited in charges against 14 members of rival gang

An alleged attack on a motorcycle club in Lexington figures prominently in federal charges against members of a rival gang.
A federal grand jury last week indicted members of the Thug Riders Motorcycle Club (TRMC) chapter based in Dayton, Ohio, on charges of racketeering, assault in aid of racketeering, conspiracy and attempted assault.

The indictment names 14 TRMC members, though not all were charged in all counts.

One incident the indictment cites as an example of the club’s alleged illegal activities happened in Lexington in April 2023, when more than half a dozen club members rode from Ohio to Lexington to retaliate against a rival motorcycle gang known as the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, according to the indictment.

Members of the TRMC suspected two of their Kentucky members had been attacked by Outlaws MC members, the indictment says.
The two clubs have been in conflict over control of territory, according to the indictment.

TRMC members from Ohio met up with members from the club’s Richmond chapter at a gas station on North Broadway in Lexington and switched the Ohio license plates on their motorcyles with stolen Kentucky plates, the indictment charges.

Club members then went to the Outlaws MC clubhouse on Bryan Avenue and fired at least 192 shots into the building, according to the indictment.

The building was occupied at the time. The indictment did not say whether any Outlaws MC members were hurt.

The attack and the planning leading up to it were the basis for the conspiracy charge in the indictment against 10 TRMC members.

A Kentucky club member who allegedly helped supply stolen license plates, Joseph Michael Rader, 32, was arrested last week and was scheduled for an initial court appearance Monday in federal court in Lexington.

Background on Dayton club

The indictment says the TRMC established the Dayton chapter in 2019. Juan Anthony Robles, 45, one of the men named in the indictment, was instrumental in setting up the new chapter and is the current head of the organization in the Midwest, according to the charges.

The organization itself was founded as an “outlaw motorcycle gang” in 2004 and has chapters throughout the U.S. and in other countries, including Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany, according to the indictment.

The organization makes money from dues from members, payments from support clubs and other methods that include illegal alcohol sales and stripper shows, the indictment says.

Members have engaged in extortion, identity fraud and violent acts including murder, arson and assault, according to the indictment.

Other incidents cited in the indictment include blowing up a vehicle owned by a former member of the club who hadn’t paid the $1,000 fee to get out of the organization, and firing more than 40 shots into a Chevrolet Tahoe at a Dayton liquor store, killing one of the occupants.

The men in the SUV had gotten into a confrontation with TRMC members after being turned away from a club event, according to the indictment.

The Dayton Daily News reported that about 300 police officers from various agencies took part in rounding up TRMC members in four states last week.

Federal authorities said at a news conference that police seized about 100 guns and 15,000 rounds of ammunition during the arrests, according to the newspaper

ALBANY — A 33-year-old man will spend more than a decade in prison for a weapons possession conviction tied to a 2021 biker gang shootout that left a local man dead.

Collin Billingsley, wearing an orange jail uniform, was sentenced by Albany County Judge William Little on Friday to 12 years in prison and five years on parole.

Billingsley wielded a loaded handgun during the Oct. 9, 2021, mass shooting that left 29-year-old Alexander Bolton dead and six others injured. Billingsley was originally charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty in April to a felony weapons possession charge.

“Alex did not shoot himself in the back,” Michele Morgan Bolton, the victim’s mother, said as she read from a prepared statement. “He did not leave himself on the street to die. I am haunted that my precious child left this world in agony alone — the fear and hopelessness you must have felt are unbearable weights for me to carry.”

Billingsley stared off as Bolton’s mother, a former Times Union reporter; his sister, Victoria Bolton; and his father, Jeffrey Bolton, took turns speaking of the pain following the victim’s death.

“He was an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan,” his sister said. “I hope (Billingsley) thinks about him every Veterans Day.”

Billingsley declined to speak before the judge imposed this sentence.

Police arrested 10 people for weapons charges inside the club at 117 N. Lake Ave. on the night of the shooting. Arrest reports from the initial investigation described the club as a hangout for a local “Suicide Squad” motorcycle club

Angela Kelly, Billingsley’s attorney, told the judge she felt sympathy for Bolton’s family, but noted her client was not convicted of killing him.

Little spoke of the recklessness of the shootout.

“Ms. Kelly, I’d also be remiss if I didn’t say that I watched the video,” Little said, referencing footage of the shooting. “And whether or not your client is admitting to causing the death of this person, I will say that he was a part of this incident within the city of Albany where tons of people were shooting guns throughout the middle of the city of Albany as if there was no other people living there.”

Billingsley is the only person to plead guilty in connection with the shootout. So far, Billingsley is the only person to have accepted a plea in connection with the shooting. A spokesperson for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Friday the investigation into the case remains ongoing and no one else has been indicted.

More than 70 shell casings fired from several handguns were recovered in the aftermath of the shooting, which was one of the worst spasms of gun violence in the city’s recent history.

The shooting took place at a venue called The Lounge @ 117 North Lake. The lounge was operating without the proper permits, city officials said and Mayor Kathy Sheehan described the location as an “illegal, after-hours club.”

Days after the shooting, the Times Union reported that law enforcement sources said their investigation was focused on whether individuals with ties to the Pagans Motorcycle Club allegedly went to the location because of an earlier incident in which they believed someone associated with another gang had insulted them by screeching a tire in their direction.

Uniformed and intelligence police officers will be monitoring Hells Angels this weekend in Calgary

Hundreds of Hells Angels members from across Canada gathering in Calgary on the weekend will enjoy a good-natured get-together akin to a company Christmas party, a member of the club’s Calgary chapter said Thursday.

On Wednesday, a public advisory about the gathering held annually in different parts of Canada was issued by city police, who, along with other law enforcement agencies, view the motorcycle club as a violent organized crime outfit involved in drug trafficking and other activities.

But the long-time Calgary member called that “propaganda” and noted the police statement predicted there’d likely be no trouble coming from him and his colleagues during the Friday and Saturday event.

“We don’t get to see our young guys so it’s just to have a party to get to know everybody,” said the man, who didn’t want to be identified.
“It’s like any company, you have your Christmas parties.”

A circus tent has been set up for the party at the local Hells Angels clubhouse in southeast Calgary where up to 600 members hailing from every province will eat, drink and socialize, he said.

Among them, he said, will be about 25 members of the club’s two Calgary chapters.

Shuttles will be provided to take attendees to their hotels afterwards “so nobody drinks and drives,” added the man, who said he’s been a full-fledged member for 26 years.

Police said they’ll be closely monitoring “those attending and ensuring they abide by the law, including the Traffic Safety Act.”

The Calgary club member said he expects officers to be doing just that, noting the weather forecast is for rain.

“They’ll likely have hundreds watching the party and good on them — I hope they get wet,” he said.

Even so, the man said Calgary police tend to be more easy-going with club members compared to those in Winnipeg and Edmonton, the latter who are “in your face, trying to push your buttons.”

On Thursday afternoon, motorists spotted about 10 Hells Angels wearing Toronto-area patches heading westwards on the TransCanada Hwy. around Medicine Hat.

Calgary Hells Angels have criminal history in the city

Since its inception in California in 1948, the group has been involved in a number of deadly turf wars, including in Canada.
The Hells Angels first gained a foothold in Alberta in July 1997 with the takeover of the Grim Reapers. At the time, the group had chapters in Lethbridge, Red Deer, Edmonton and Calgary.

In February 2001, the trial began in the case of former club president Kenneth Szczerba, who was accused of plotting to blow up the homes of alderman Dale Hodges and two other people. Hodges was a strong opponent of the Angels’ clubhouse being built. Szczerba was later found guilty.

City police raided the Hells Angels’ Calgary clubhouse in Ogden and other locations in March 2001, seizing 11 kg of cocaine and other drugs along with weapons. Charges were laid against 43 people, eight of them members of the club’s Calgary chapter.

The club member said that was a long time ago and police have little to show for their efforts against them since, suggesting law enforcement rhetoric against them “is a way to keep their budgets nice and fat.”

Any time a member is arrested or convicted of criminal activity, it’s simply an individual matter of wrongdoing unrelated to the club, said the man.

Police expect Hells Angels will be promoting members

But a city police officer tasked with monitoring the Hells Angels said it’s preposterous to suggest the group isn’t an organized criminal entity.

“They have been court-qualified as a criminal organization over a number of years and you’d have to be wilfully blind to all of this information to think otherwise … There’s no longer an excuse,” said Acting Insp. Matthew Gow of the CPS organized crime section.

It’s mandatory, he said, for all 34 Canadian Hells Angels chapters to send representatives to the Calgary meet-up, along with those from their support clubs, adding he expects between 500 and 1,000 people to attend.

“We’re no strangers to managing motorcycle events and this is a larger one, so we have a larger posture,” said G“We not only have uniformed members but intelligence officers from across Canada are already on the ground collecting intelligence.”

It’s likely the bikers will conduct business while in Calgary, including conducting promotions and position changes, said Gow.

“If my people are spread across the country, would I use a concentration like this as an opportunity to conduct business? I’d say yes,” he said.

Calgarians can expect to see a significant group of Hells Angels and affiliated bike riders on local streets during their organized ride, whose numbers could pose a danger to the public “depending on their behaviour,” said Gow.

Another concern, he said, is the unsettling presence Hells Angels members wearing their highly visible patches bring to public settings, such as restaurants or bars where they’ll be evicted by officers, said Gow.

“We’re not going to allow intimidation to drive our citizens away from licensed places,” he said.

“If all things go well, this group will come and go without incident.”

WOODBRIDGE, VA — After Prince William County Police said they were seeking 19 people related to a motorcycle gang assault and shooting outside a Woodbridge bar, 12 suspects were arrested and charged on Wednesday.

Prince William County Police had announced a large-scale operation involving multiple law enforcement partners to arrest 19 people tied to an April 13 assault and shooting at Babylon Café (3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge). Police linked the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang to the incident.

The 12 people arrested and charged on Wednesday are:

The physical altercation outside the Babylon Café on April 13 caused non-life threatening injuries for a 42-year-old man, and second 41-year-old man arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the arm. Both were not cooperative with police initially about what led to the fight and shooting.

A police investigation determined the 42-year-old man was forcibly removed to the parking lot from the sports bar by gang members, who assaulted him. Gang members remained in the parking lot, and the victim’s acquaintance confronted them. That led to an exchange of gunfire with more than 80 rounds fired.

According to police, hundreds of law enforcement officers assisted in the large-scale arrest operation, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the U.S. Marshals Service; the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration; the U.S. Postal Inspection Service; the Virginia State Police; the Fairfax County Police Department; and the Philadelphia Police Department.

Dozens of search warrants executed in investigation into Babylon Café fight

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Prince William County said more than a dozen search warrants were executed in connection with an ongoing multi-state investigation into an incident at the Babylon Café earlier this year.

Detectives determined a shooting that broke out in the cafe’s parking lot in the early morning hours of April 13 was affiliated with the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang.

Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) investigators said the victim — a 42-year-old man — had been forcibly removed from the cafe to the parking lot by members of the gang, where he was assaulted.

He suffered serious injuries.

After the assault, members of the gang stayed in the lot, where one of the man’s acquaintances confronted the group. As a result, more than 80 shots rang out.

The 41-year-old acquaintance was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm.

More than three months after the altercation, on July 16, the PWCPD said a coordinated joint operation resulted in multiple search warrants being executed throughout Virginia and Pennsylvania.

During those searches, 19 people were either taken into custody or are actively being sought on outstanding charges related to the investigation.

Bartow County, GA – Beginning in March 2025, the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force (BC-DTF), operating under the Special Operations Division of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, initiated an extensive investigation into a criminal network distributing significant quantities of methamphetamine throughout Bartow County and surrounding areas.

This investigation was conducted in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad), Paulding County Sheriff’s Office (Georgia Bureau of Investigation Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force – NWGDTF), Cartersville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and SWAT Team, and the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap, Drug Task Force Agents identified the primary target as Jonathan Russell Nelson, of Acworth, Georgia. Nelson is a multi-kilogram methamphetamine distributor with confirmed ties to the Vagos Motorcycle Club. At the time of his arrest, Nelson was in possession of over two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and multiple firearms.

On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, this collaborative operation culminated in the execution of eight search warrants across Bartow, Cherokee, and Paulding counties, resulting in the arrest of twenty-eight individuals. The individuals arrested face charges for various violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, including Trafficking Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine, as well as felony Obstruction of Officers and multiple firearms offenses.

During the operation, Agents seized:

• Approximately 8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (estimated street value of $640,000)
• Seventeen fluid ounces of Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB)
• Sixteen firearms
• Five vehicles
• U.S. currency

Sheriff Millsap praised the dedication and teamwork of all participating agencies, stating:

“These arrests and seizures are the direct result of dedicated collaboration between local, state, and federal partners to keep dangerous drugs and violent criminals out of our communities. I commend the hard work of all personnel involved in this operation.”
The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office extends appreciation to its Patrol Division, Jail Division, and Criminal Investigations Division for their critical assistance in supporting this investigation.

This investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated.

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A drug task force operation in Bartow County led to the arrests of 28 people and seizure of more than a half million dollars’ worth of methamphetamine.

According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, officers in a multi-county investigation disrupted a large-scale methamphetamine distribution network.

During the operation, Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Drug Task Force agents identified Jonathan Russell Nelson of Acworth as “the primary target” of their investigation.

Fire breaks out at motorcycle club in Pittsburgh

A fire broke out at a motorcycle club in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the Sin City club on Brushton Avenue just after 4:30 a.m.

Public Safety officials said the fire started on the back porch of the club and extended into the kitchen.

When firefighters arrived on scene, four people were on the front porch roof and were safely evacuated from the area.

A firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening back injury and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire.

First Thug Riders Motorcycle Club gang member sentenced, 30 months in prison

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The first member of the Thug Riders Motorcycle Club (TRMC) – which faces remarkable allegations including murder, arson and racketeering – was sentenced on July 9.

Michael Seth Henry “Brutal”, 40, from Xenia, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and three years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Michael Newman. (Special Assessment of $100 on each count due immediately for a total of $300.)
Per court documents, Henry made a plea agreement.

His defense submitted a memo that said he joined the Thug Riders in September 2022, which was after the club’s alleged murder and arson.
The alleged major crimes the TRMC is facing charges for are the following:

Two hospitalized after shooting at motorcycle club

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Two individuals are recovering in the hospital after a shooting at a motorcycle club on St. Clair Avenue. The incident occurred early this morning, with police responding to the scene around 3:45 a.m.

Authorities reported finding one male victim with a gunshot wound upon arrival. He was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. A second victim, who also sustained a gunshot wound, managed to take themselves to the hospital and is likewise in stable condition.

Police recovered a firearm at the scene. However, they are still working to determine if it was used in the shooting.

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.

Man found guilty for shooting and killing 2 men outside Denver motorcycle club

DENVER — A Denver jury has convicted a man who shot and killed two men outside of a motorcycle club in 2023.

Shon McPherson, 34, was convicted of all eight counts he was facing, including:
• Two counts of first-degree murder after deliberation
• Two counts of first-degree murder with extreme indifference
• Two counts of attempted second-degree murder
• Attempted first-degree murder after deliberation
• Attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference

• On November 5, 2023, McPherson shot and killed 43-year-old Michael David and 39-year-old Joshua Batts in the early morning at the Hell’s Lovers Motorcycle Club in northeast Denver. Three other people were shot, but survived, and the two suspects, McPherson and Todd Washington, were also injured by gunfire, according to police in 2023.
