The FBI and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 members of the Mongols biker gang July 2 in connection with a Bike Week shooting in New Smyrna Beach earlier this year, officials said during a press conference in Daytona Beach.

The press conference follows joint law enforcement raids earlier the same day, according to the FBI Jacksonville, which stated in a social media post that the raids targeted “violent criminal offenders across Florida.” The FBI wrote in the post that it partnered with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the 7th Circuit State Attorney’s Office.

The Bike Week shooting happened at a RaceTrac gas station at 3000 State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach between the Mongols and the Warlocks.
Two Warlocks were shot. They sustained minor injuries and declined to cooperate with deputies, Sheriff Mike Chitwood said during the press conference.

Chitwood warned outlaw biker gangs to stay away from Volusia County or “face the consequences.”
During the raids, law enforcement agents confiscated a number of firearms and they will reviewing the warrants to see what other charges they can bring.

he 28 people arrested were charged with aggravated rioting, a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Law enforcement executed 14 search warrants, including one at the Mongols clubhouse in Edgewater; four homes in Volusia County; three homes in Brevard County; two homes in Miami-Dade and Polk counties; and one home in Palm Beach County and Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Gang investigators director: Motorcycle clubs on the rise in Florida

Motorcycle gangs have been expanding their presence in Florida over the last several years, John Scaduto, the Southwest Florida regional director of the Florida Gang Investigators Association, stated in a story earlier this year after the New Smyrna Beach incident. The association provides training and advice for law enforcement agencies.

In the last several years, at least two outlaw motorcycle clubs have moved into Florida: the Mongols and the Pagans. The Mongols is an international motorcycle gang.

“There’s more of an expansion of the clubs that have moved into the state and they are establishing new clubhouses, chapters, territories, so to speak, within the state, and that is encroaching upon each other,” he said.

According to New Smyrna Beach Police, the gunfire erupted during a brawl where punches were thrown in a crowd of 25 people or more at 11:45 a.m.

Up until now, the only person to be identified and arrested in connection with the incident was Clinton Neal Walker, 41, of Bradenton.

Walker was part of a group of Mongols who confronted a group of Warlocks who were already gathered in the RaceTrac parking lot.

Walker was charged with inciting a riot, discharging a firearm in public, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Walker was released from the Volusia County Branch Jail $75,000 bail.

When asked whether there was a similar raid in Edgewater July 2, Acting Police Chief Charles “Chas” Geiger told The News-Journal: “This was a VSO Investigation … . I would direct you to their PIO for comment.”

A Mongols Motorcycle Club is located on Cow Creek Road in Edgewater, police said.

Volusia sheriff say’s ‘it’s game on now’ in Bike Week shooting case

A massive law enforcement operation involving the DEA, FBI, and 9 sheriff’s offices across Florida led to the arrests of dozens of biker gang members following a shooting earlier this year in New Smyrna Beach during Bike Week.

The operation began around 5 a.m., with alleged gang members spread out across Florida, and involved hundreds of FBI agents assisting local authorities.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported that 31 arrest warrants and 16 search warrants were executed, resulting in 28 people, including four in Volusia County, being arrested.

“It’s game on now because there is a treasure trove of evidence,” Chitwood said.

Among those arrested was the chapter president of the Mongols Motorcycle Club in Volusia County, who was taken into custody at his home in Port Orange.

The sheriff noted that he is from South America and lacks permanent legal status.

Another arrested individual was identified as one of the alleged shooters from the March incident, during which rival gangs confronted each other at a gas station in New Smyrna Beach, resulting in a fight with several shots fired.

Two people were injured, but no fatalities occurred. Law enforcement executed 31 arrest warrants, all for aggravated riot — a new felony statute enacted in 2022.

“This isn’t the end. This is the beginning. You are not going to come into my county and think it’s the Wild West and think you’re going to own the streets, OK? For 8 minutes or 10 minutes, you were out there, you owned it. Right now, law enforcement now is on the attack. So bikers beware. We are coming. We are not done,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

Deputies also searched the Mongol clubhouse, where the gang departed on the day of the shooting after learning their rivals were in New Smyrna Beach.

The sheriff stated that a large number of guns have already been recovered, and with federal involvement, additional federal charges are likely, including felony aggravated riot charges.

The FBI, along with law enforcement partners in Florida and across the country, are working together on ‘Summer heat,’ an effort that is expected to crush violent crime across the summer months. The FBI has a multiple-pronged approach to remove violent gangs and drugs from the streets.

Police say 125 kg of crystal meth seized after Robin Moulton arrested last year

A New Brunswick man described as a full-patch member of the Hells Angels was sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to drug and weapons charges in Ontario.

Robin Moulton, 56, of Minto, N.B., pleaded guilty to five of the 21 charges he faced last November, according to court records recently provided to CBC News.

Moulton was charged last spring after the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop and later seized 125 kilograms of crystal meth. Police said in a news release the drugs had an estimated value of $7.5 million.

Moulton pleaded guilty to trafficking crystal meth, possessing a prohibited rifle, possessing a firearm suppressor, having a firearm in his possession while prohibited by a previous order, and possessing ammunition while prohibited.

The crimes took place March 27 last year in the Township of Head Clara and Maria, a rural area west of Ottawa.

Moulton was sentenced during an appearance Nov. 29 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke, according to records the court provided to CBC recently.

Justice Howard Chisvin sentenced Moulton to a total of 10 years on the charges, though Moulton was credited a year for time already spent in custody.

Crown attorney Tim McCann gave the judge an agreed statement of facts outlining the details of what Moulton admits, but the document was not available from the court when CBC requested a copy. The document was also not read out loud during the sentencing.

The Ontario Provincial Police did not respond to a request for comment about the outcome.

No comment from lawyer

CBC News attempted to speak to defence lawyer T.J. Burke, who had represented Moulton in the case.

“Mr. Burke has advised that he has no comment regarding the subject, have a nice day,” said a person who answered the phone at his law office before hanging up on May 23.

Burke told the judge during the sentencing hearing, according to a recording reviewed by CBC, that Moulton previously ran a business buying homes and flipping them.

“This is obviously an unfortunate situation that Mr. Moulton has found himself in,” Burke said during the sentencing.

Moulton was convicted of drug trafficking offences in New Brunswick in 2018.

According to Parole Board of Canada decisions, police believe Moulton returned to his home province of New Brunswick in 2016 with the purpose of setting up a chapter for Hells Angels.

The Hells Angels have had a Nomads chapter in New Brunswick since 2016, as part of an eastern expansion for Canada’s largest and most powerful outlaw motorcycle gang.

Moulton previously told the parole board that he saw the Hells Angels as more of a “social club” and noted that membership wasn’t illegal

He also told the board there was “no evidence of any connection” between his club and the crimes he committed in 2018.

Charges dismissed against Vagos biker gang member

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prosecutors have dismissed felony charges against the alleged president of the Antelope Valley chapter of the Vagos biker gang.

Charges of gang participation and gun and ammunition possession by a felon were dismissed Thursday against John Eric Anderson, according to court records.

“With the current state of evidence, we were unable to proceed at this time,” prosecutors said in an email. It’s unclear if the case will be refiled.

Ulisses Navarette, the alleged sergeant at arms of the gang’s Antelope Valley chapter, remains charged with multiple weapons offenses. He has a hearing scheduled mid-July.

The charges stemmed from reports in June of last year of Vagos members harassing customers at a business in Tehachapi.

Deputies searched Navarette’s home on Dawn Avenue and located Vagos riding jackets — one with a loaded gun in a pocket — on a couch near juveniles, according to a court filing.

Investigators found another gun hidden in a motorcycle, a fully automatic machine gun and a 40mm launcher, sheriff’s officials said.

One of the riding jackets had a patch identifying Navarette as the gang’s sergeant of arms — a leadership position, according to the filing.

Anderson was arrested at home in Rosamond.

LENOIR, N.C. — A man was arrested on gun charges during a police search at a Lenoir motorcycle clubhouse Monday.
Anthony Lee Card was arrested at 4 a.m. when police searched the Pagans Motorcycle Club gathering spot in Lenoir.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation worked with the Lenoir Police Department, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Police Department on the search.

Card was charged with having a gun as a convicted felon. The Lenoir Police Department filed the charges. He was taken to the Caldwell County jail and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Another motorcycle club house in the area was raided by police earlier in June following a deadly shooting. That shooting happened at the Outlaw Motorcycle Club in Newton.

Police confirmed the search warrant executed in Lenoir on Monday was connected to the shooting at the Outlaw clubhouse.

STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A violent fight between members of rival outlaw motorcycle gangs at a job site in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center has left one man critically injured, according to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing on June 26 and found Ricky Duboc, covered in what appeared to be blood and carrying a spring-loaded knife. Duboc was detained at the scene. Another man, William Roemer, was discovered with life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation revealed that Duboc, affiliated with the Mongols, was the primary aggressor in the incident, which was linked to gang associations. Roemer is associated with the Hells Angels. Both men were employed at the job site.

Duboc was arrested and taken to the Storey County jail. He faces charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon motivated by hatred or bias, mayhem with a deadly weapon, and battery with intent to kill to promote or assist a criminal gang. His bail is set at $185,000.

A bystander was also injured in the incident but did not sustain life-threatening injuries. The bystander was treated at a local hospital. The investigation into the bystander’s involvement is ongoing.

Member of Black Pistons Motorcycle Club arrested in Kingston

Kingston Police arrested a member of the Black Pistons motorcycle club Wednesday night in regards to an assault call. As a result their bike was towed off the roadway from downtown Kingston.

More than a handful of Kingston Police vehicles surrounded a corner of Ontario Street in downtown Kingston on Wednesday night. Among them were about seven motorcycles and their riders, all a part of the Black Pistons Motorcycle Club.

According to its website, the group is a brotherhood, not a criminal organization

Just outside of the Landmark Condos, a resident captured photos of the scene from their balcony.

“We didn’t see the start of it,” said Les Jones, who was watching down from the fourth floor. “When we were there it was actually quite sedated. It felt like police were waiting for something. The block was partially cornered off so every now and again there would be cars trying to get through. But there was no actual real activity at the time.”

Jones said he had never heard of the Black Pistons and was curious as to what was going on.

“Police were around one motorbike that was parked but they weren’t doing anything with it. They were just around it.”

Const. Anthony Colangeli, media relations officer with the Kingston Police, an arrest was made in relation to an assault call. Police are calling it an isolated incident and not related to the condo or the city’s downtown. Colangeli said “it was an assault that occurred previous to him being stopped.”

As a result of the arrest, the owner’s motorcycle had to be towed off the roadway, “as the owner was in custody and wouldn’t be able to operate it,” Colangeli added.

At this point, Kingston Police didn’t have any additional information regarding the arrest or alleged assault.

The Whig-Standard reached out to the Black Pistons for comment but have not heard back.

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —

A man wanted out of Minnesota was arrested in Anderson County, South Carolina, after running from deputies and into the Hells Angels’ clubhouse.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said they were trying to serve a warrant on Benji Johnson Monday afternoon on South McDuffie Street.
Authorities said when Johnson spotted law enforcement, he ran straight into the Hells Angels’ clubhouse and barricaded himself inside

The action prompted deputies, detectives, a K9 Unit, SWAT, and fugitive investigative unit to respond.

Authorities said Johnson eventually surrendered, along with a woman who has active warrants in Anderson

Johnson will remain in custody in Anderson County until being sent back to Minnesota.

No arrests made after bikers beat anti-Trump protester in Detroit

A mob of leather-clad motorcyclists attacked a nonviolent anti-Trump protester in Detroit’s Clark Park on Saturday by repeatedly punching him in the face and bloodying his nose, but the thugs were never arrested, Metro Times has learned.

The assault occurred as thousands of activists turned out to protest President Donald Trump’s administration, joining a wave of nationwide “No Kings” rallies where millions of people peacefully denounced authoritarianism and demanded protections for democracy and immigrant rights.

A menacing coalition of bikers stood along the edge of the Detroit protest, with at least one appearing to wear Nazi insignia. Another was carrying an AR-15-style rifle, and others were armed with handguns.

The bikers insisted they were there to protect the city from a riot, but they were the only ones at the rally to resort to violence. Videos posted to Instagram show a bearded biker punching a protester in the face. Other bikers piled on, repeatedly assaulting the protester, who was wearing a black hoodie and whose nose was bloodied. Another biker pushed protesters who had gathered to stop the assault.

On Monday evening, police told Metro Times they made no arrests at the protest.

For the first hour of the rally, Detroit police stood near the bikers. At past protests, Detroit police have separated protesters from counter-protesters. It’s unclear why that didn’t happen or why police took so long to respond to the assault.

The bikers were from the motorcycle clubs Highwaymen, Iron Coffins, and Mob Lyfe.
