OPP, Ontario fire marshal investigate biker clubhouse fire in Hastings

OPP and the Ontario fire marshal are investigating a fire at a biker gang clubhouse in the village of Hastings, southeast of Peterborough, early Thursday.

Northumberland OPP say just before 1 a.m., Trent Hills Fire Department crews responded to a reported structure fire at a building on Bridge Street South in the village of Hastings. OPP say fire crews were already at the scene before officers arrived.

No injuries were reported.

The building has long been associated with motorcycle clubs and gangs.

OPP released a photo to the media, however, signage on the building was blurred out and a media released did not reference a motorcycle club.

However, scene photos obtained by Global News show the front signage on the building reads “Rock Machine MC” and “Enter with Respect.”

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

On Thursday afternoon, police said they are investigating the fire with help from the OFM.
“Officers will continue to hold the scene for the ongoing investigation,” OPP said.

B.C. is seeking the forfeiture of two Vancouver Island properties linked to a police investigation targeting a Hells Angels puppet club

The B.C. government is seeking to seize two Vancouver Island properties linked to a police investigation targeting the Savages biker gang.

On Wednesday, the director of civil forfeiture filed a lawsuit against John Robert-Lee Riches, a full-patch member of the Hells Angels-affiliated Savages, and two associates, arguing their properties should be handed over to the government.

The lawsuit calls the Savages a “criminal organization” and alleges that Riches and Kenneth Baker “have been members of an organization comprised of more than three persons … which has as one of its main purposes or main activities the facilitation or commission of one or more serious offences.”

The director wants the Langford condo owned by Riches forfeited, along with a Sooke Road acreage owned by Baker and Taylor Church. The total assessed value of the two properties is just over $2 million.

The lawsuit said both properties have been used as “instruments of unlawful activity, namely, the laundering of proceeds of crime” obtained through drug trafficking.

None of the three people named in the lawsuit has been charged.

The case stems from a West Shore RCMP investigation that included several searches of Vancouver Island properties on Jan. 31, 2024. The Savages Langford clubhouse, at 2775 Spencer Rd., was one of the buildings targeted. It is now listed for sale for just under $1.4 million.

At the time, Cpl. Nancy Saggar said police seized about 450 grams of fentanyl and 150 grams of methamphetamine during the searches, as well as other illicit drugs and items related to trafficking.

The Odessa Police Department has continuously followed up on the shooting that occurred on Memorial Day and have made an arrest in connection.

This incident involves two rival biker gangs. During this incident, 36-year-old Victor Gomez exited his vehicle in the 3000 blk of Andrews Highway. He approached 41-year-old Gilbert Corrales in the middle of the roadway. There is evidence to believe that Gomez used a baseball bat to strike Corrales while Corrales was on his motorcycle.

After striking Corrales, Gomez returned to his vehicle and abandoned the unlawful assault. Corrales followed Gomez to the passenger side. He then fired a single round into the truck, striking Gomez in the torso. Both parties fled the scene.
Members of both gangs have been interviewed about the incident and have provided no information and false information about the incident.

This case involves two separate aggravated assaults within the same incident. Therefore, BOTH subjects are being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon “F2.” Gomez is still in the ICU at Medical Center Hospital in stable, but critical condition.

Warrants have been obtained and will be served upon his imminent release. Corrales was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on the Aggravated Assault charge, Possession of Body Armor by a Felon “F3,” and Marijuana charges. The Bandidos Biker Gang is one of the most well-known motorcycle clubs on Earth. But they aren’t just famous for being great at riding their motorbikes. They’re also highly skilled when it comes to murdering, drug dealing, and arms trafficking, as well as countless other activities that tend to be associated with organized crime. The gang was formed in San Leon, Texas, in 1966, and quickly found itself a willing and enduring nemesis in the form of the equally lawless Hells Angels.

Like other biker gangs, the Bandidos have a variety of patches that members can earn by proving their loyalty to the club. Three of the most common are the “Expect No Mercy,” “Omerta,” and “Snitches Are a Dying Breed” patches.
Discover what each one means below.

‘Expect No Mercy’ Patch Meaning

The “Expect No Mercy” patch is awarded to members as a badge of honor for having committed murder on behalf of the club. After Robert Lara was murdered in 2002, four Bandidos who were suspected of the killing were photographed wearing “Expect No Mercy” patches on their vests. One month before he was murdered, those same four men appeared in a Christmas card without the patches. At trial, this was cited as evidence of their involvement.

‘Omerta’ Patch Meaning

“Omerta” refers to a code of silence that originated within the Italian mafia. If a Bandidos biker gang member wears this badge, they are essentially vowing never to speak up about criminal activity or provide evidence to the authorities, upholding loyalty to their members no matter what. ‘Snitches Are a Dying Breed’ Patch Meaning

This patch implies that anyone who informs the police of foul play will suffer a severe beating — or worse: be murdered. The Bandidos (and many other outlaw biker gangs, at that) do not spare snitches who rat them out and this badge serves as a warning to anyone who might be considering alerting the authorities about crimes or revealing the identities of Bandidos presidents. Members found to have disobeyed or snitched on their gang have been stripped of their Bandidos paraphernalia and brutally assaulted.

Eight Hells Angels accused of various roles in a racist attack on three African-American men last year in Ocean Beach have pleaded guilty and now face punishments ranging from 60 days in local custody to nine years in state prison.

The three victims of that brutal June 6, 2023 attack were enjoying a night out on Newport Avenue. Prosecutors say one of the men apparently spoke to a biker’s girlfriend, which might have prompted the attack. The suspects allegedly called the victims a racial epithet and told them “they didn’t belong in the neighborhood.”

According to prosecutors, one of the victims ran and escaped injury.

But members of the biker gang cornered the second victim and punched and kicked him repeatedly. One of the gang members then sucker-punched that second, knocking him out. District Attorney Summer Stephan said the third victim was also beaten and then viciously stabbed in the chest by long-time Hells Angel Troy Scholder.

The second and third victims survived those attacks.

Last September, a county grand jury indicted 14 Hells Angels for assault likely to cause great bodily injury with an additional gang enhancement charge.

Eleven of those 14 defendants were also charged with a hate crime, and three defendants were accused of helping the stabber, Troy Scholder, evade arrest by assisting him when he fled the crime scene and sought refuge at the Hells Angels’ Clubhouse in El Cajon.

In the eight months since those indictments, eight defendants have pleaded guilty to felony assault and other serious crimes.

William McDonnal received the harshest sentence to date: nine years in state prison, following his admission of guilt on two counts of assault likely to cause great bodily injury with gang and hate crime enhancements.

Denmark implements temporary ban on Bandidos motorcycle club, citing violence

• The ban was enacted immediately, prohibiting club activities such as clubhouse use, meetings and wearing insignias.
• According to Lasse Boje, head of Denmark’s National Special Crime Unit, the group’s actions pose a serious threat to citizen safety and public order.

Police in Denmark on Wednesday issued a temporary ban on the Danish arm of the Bandidos motorcycle club, citing the group’s violent behavior.

The temporary ban was based on the assessment that the group’s activities and the behavior of its members “pose both a serious threat to citizens’ lives and safety, but also to public order as such,” said Lasse Boje, head of Denmark’s National Special Crime Unit that handles the most complex economic crime, organized crime and cybercrime.
The measure took effect immediately, meaning members of the group cannot use their clubhouses, hold meetings or wear their insignias.

“Their violence must stop now,” Boje said, adding said that in the past decade, the Danish branch of Bandidos has been involved in at least 10 violent conflicts with other criminal groups.

He said that while they will not cease to exist and be criminals, “this will, among other things, weaken their ability to recruit.”

Last month, Denmark’s government said it wants a court to formally dissolve Bandidos. Under the Danish Constitution, an organization that promotes or incites violence can be dissolved by court.

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard then said that “the freedom of association was not created to protect vicious criminals,” and that the Bandidos had engaged in especially “brutal behavior.”

The Danish chapter of Bandidos MC was created in 1993. Three years later, a feud between them and rivals Hells Angels broke out in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, ending with 11 dead and nearly 100 wounded.

In recent years, members of the Bandidos in Denmark have been jailed for murder, attempted murder, assault and drug-related crimes.

An entourage of more than a dozen supporters who joined President Donald J. Trump in a Manhattan courthouse on Monday included a former president of an outlaw motorcycle gang in New York City who spent years in prison on drug charges.

The man, Chuck Zito, helped found in the early 1980s the New York Nomads chapter of the Hells Angels, the infamous club that started in California. The Justice Department described the organization as a criminal enterprise and linked the New York chapter to the Gambino crime family. Mr. Zito later left the biker group to try become a movie star in Hollywood.

Mr. Trump has long shown an affection for macho bikers, and addressed a rally of them in Washington in 2016 before the election. (“Do we love the bikers? Yes. We love the bikers,” he told the crowd.) A group called Bikers for Trump took part in several so-called Stop the Steal rallies after Mr. Trump lost the 2020 election.
